Some coffees you seek out. This one walked up and introduced itself.
We were on the farm, mid-cupping session, working through the day's lots — and this one stopped us mid-sip. Something unmistakably different. Delicate and strange in the best possible way, with a floral intensity that Wush Wush is quietly famous for among those lucky enough to encounter it.
The variety itself is a rarity. Wush Wush traces its roots to the Wushwush region of southwest Ethiopia, and it remains one of the most elusive cultivars in specialty coffee — grown in small pockets, produced in tiny quantities, and almost never making it to the wider world in any meaningful volume.
This lot is 15kg. That's it.
We're not dressing that up — it's simply the reality of what this variety produces, and part of what makes each cup feel like an occasion worth paying attention to.
